Type of Anesthesia: |
General anesthesia in combination with a local and sedation. |
This surgery is extremely successful when performed on the right candidate, who has a thin face and sufficient skin surface so it can be adjusted once the facial muscle and fatty tissue have been rearranged.
An incision is made fully hidden behind the hairline, extending in a natural line to the front of the ear and continuing behind the earlobe. The skin is gradually lifted away almost to the eyes, nose and mouth as if we were removing a mask, exposing the muscle and fat underneath. The fat is re-set to the right position, in what truly constitutes a reconstructive surgery, since we reconstruct the tissue placing it back where it belongs with very fine sutures that dissolve with time. So, muscles that control smile cheekbone, etc. are all returned to their original positions.
After the reconstruction, the skin is put back in place, and although it will not be stretched, some extra skin will be left, and once it is removed we close it with sutures.
As you can see, this is not a procedure to tighten the skin, but a repositioning of facial muscle. The old skin-stretching technique only achieves a taut, expressionless face, with a scar that grows ever wider due to the tension applied to the skin.

| Recovery |
Requires 4 to 5 day of hospitalization and the patient will receive a Hyperbaric Oxygen treatment daily , which will help in the healing process and reduce swelling, in general it reduces recovery time in half. |
